A Tender World, now unfolding in Seoul

Dear friends,
Herry Kim’s new solo exhibition, A Tender World, is now on view in Seoul. It’s an exhibition shaped by memory, imagination, and care, one that feels less like a declaration and more like an invitation.
For Herry, painting is a form of world-building. Each work begins as a small, almost private fragment, something remembered, sensed, or imagined, and slowly opens into a place you can step into. These paintings don’t ask to be decoded. They ask you to slow down, to look together, to feel.
One of my favourite moments in the exhibition is a drawing that began its life far from Seoul.

The drawing made during a children’s art event in London, now on view in the exhibition.
We made it collectively at a kids’ event in London during the artist’s solo show, surrounded by curiosity, small hands, questions, and laughter. It now lives quietly within the exhibition, carrying that spirit with it. I love that this tender, collaborative moment shared between children, parents, and artists, has travelled continents and found a home here.

Our family event in London in October 2025 where we invited children to collaborate on a work with Herry Kim.
Because of this, A Tender World feels especially welcoming for all. It’s a space where children can look freely, grown ups can linger, and art becomes something shared rather than explained. A reminder that imagination doesn’t belong to any one age.
The exhibition is beautifully curated by Shim Jung Taik, with an essay by Hann Seulki that echoes the sensitivity of the work. If you’re in Seoul over the coming days, I hope you’ll visit and if not, I hope this world still reaches you in some small way, through images, stories, or the simple knowledge that it exists.
With warmth,
Rodania
